For 220 years, Ohio University has been on a mission to help students enter to learn and depart to serve. Our commitment to moving students and communities forever forward hasn’t changed, even as we evolve to meet each new generation’s challenges and opportunities.
Still, our legacy of excellence will only ever be as strong as our resolve to strengthen it for those still to come through its doors. We cannot rest only on what we’ve built in the past. That’s why we refreshed our mission statement earlier this year, which now reads:
To hold the door open to higher education so that all those eager to solve humanity's most urgent challenges might enter to learn, connecting them with experiences and discovery that will help them think critically, care deeply, lead boldly, and ultimately depart to serve.
It’s also why, on Giving Tuesday 2024, we’re asking every Bobcat to give to whichever scholarship, emergency fund or experiential learning opportunity moves you most.
You know what it means to be Forever OHIO. And you know how important the opportunities OHIO provides can be to the next Bobcat – because you lived it.
You entered to learn.
You departed to serve.
