What is OHIO Giving Day?
OHIO Giving Day is a 24-hour campaign that inspires alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends to support the part of OHIO they care about most! In 2025, OHIO Giving Day is on April 2, though some donors made their gifts early.
How do I make my gift?
Click the "Give Now!" button and choose the fund you’d like to support. Browse available funds or enter a keyword in the designation box at checkout to find a match. Need help? Email us at giving@ohio.edu or call 740-566-8368.
What gifts will count toward OHIO Giving Day?
All gifts supporting Ohio University in honor of OHIO Giving Day will be included in the totals. This includes early gifts, mailed-in gifts marked for Giving Day, and gifts made online between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2.
What does it mean to have my gift matched?
Generous donors have pledged matching gifts for select funds on OHIO Giving Day. This means your gift to those funds will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact—until the match runs out. Matching gifts are only available on April 2.
What are challenge gifts?
Generous donors have also pledged challenge gifts for select funds on OHIO Giving Day. When a fund reaches a specific dollar amount or donor count, the challenge gift is unlocked and added to that fund’s total! Challenge gifts are only available on April 2.
What is a Power Hour?
The Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees has generously funded a Power Hour on OHIO Giving Day. During this time, all gifts up to a set amount to any fund on the Giving Day site will be matched, doubling your impact! Be sure to give early in the hour to secure a match. Stay tuned for the Power Hour time announcement so you can make your plans! The OUFBOT Power Hour is only on April 2.
Where do gifts go?
OHIO Giving Day gifts are treated like all gifts supporting Ohio University. Your gift goes to the fund or area you designate during checkout. A 5% unrestricted gift rule applies to all current-use (non-endowed) gifts—meaning 5% of each gift is directed to The Fund for OHIO. For example, a $100 gift directs $95 to your chosen fund and $5 to The Fund for OHIO. This rule helps The Ohio University Foundation secure philanthropy and grow OHIO’s private support.
How do I name a squirrel?
Available on April 2! Make a gift of at least $18.04 to any fund via this OHIO Giving Day 2025 site and submit your squirrel name at checkout. Your fun, downloadable ceremonial certificate—perfect for gifting—will be emailed within a few days. We’ll be working to create and send them as quickly as possible!
